Chinese New Year means rice, noodles and long life
A parade complete with the traditional dragon was part of Scarselli Elementary School’s celebration of Chinese New Year last Friday.
Davelyn Miyashiro, a volunteer at SES, helped to organize the parade and related activities for the classes taught by Brenda Downs and Debi McNeil.
She made rice noodles for long life, rice and spare ribs, and gave the students red New Year’s envelopes with chocolate and money. She also rolled up birth date horoscopes and tied them with red ribbon.
Miyashiro provided with chopsticks for everyone in the class to use.
Other Scarselli classes celebrated Chinese New Year this week with parades and various traditional activities.
