Child Find Screening Oct. 17
October 13, 2015
Free Child Find Screening is being offered 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17 at Minden Elementary School, 1170 Baler St., Minden.
The Child Find Screening is for children, 3-5 years old, who have not entered kindergarten and reside in Douglas County.
If you have concerns that your 3-5-year-old child may have delays in early childhood development with speech, language, cognitive, social or emotional skills, and/or fine or gross motor delays, this Child Find Screening is an opportunity for you and your child to meet with school district staff and discuss those concerns.
Once the screening is complete, if your child is suspected of having a developmental delay, he/she will then be recommended for further free-of-charge evaluations conducted by the school district and may be eligible for school services. Nevada Early Intervention Services will also be there to screen 0-3 year olds. The program is sponsored by the Douglas County School District.
If you and your child are unable to attend this free Child Find Screening and you suspect your child has a disability or a developmental delay, you may contact the Douglas County School District Special Services office at any time to request a screening for your child.
To ask questions about Child Find or other early childhood services, contact Douglas County School Special Services Program Specialist Cate Guzy at 775-265-5262 ext. 4 or Stephanie Scheick at ext. 5.
