Carson Valley Elfs prepare Project Santa

Staff Report

Gifts are stacked for Project Santa Claus during last year's event.

Now in its 29th year, Project Santa Claus has grown to a collaborative effort involving most of the Douglas County Service Clubs, the Salvation Army, many local businesses, and hundreds of Christmas spirited individuals.

Children up to 17 years of age are qualified for the program by Douglas County Social Services, CASA, or the Family Support Council. Each child receives at least two gifts valued at approximately $30 each. Sixteen local businesses have already helped collect appropriate gifts by participating in the Project's "Christmas in July" effort.

Through the generosity of the Kiwanis Club and others, the Project is also able to provide bicycles to many children.

Our newly designed Angels contain details about each child and their Christmas wishes and are placed on trees throughout the community. Members of the publican help by taking an Angel and then buying and wrapping one or more gifts for the child. Angels can be found at the following locations.
