Candy Dance seeking crafters
Genoa is seeking artisans and crafters with handmade art and crafts to display and sell at the 87th Annual Candy Dance Arts and Crafts Fair on Sept. 29 and 30. Event organizers are especially interested in providing a wide variety of quality, hand-crafted items for fair-goers to appreciate and enjoy at this year’s event.
“Our emphasis this year is on getting back to quality,” said Sheryl Gonzales, 2007 Candy Dance Arts and Crafts Fair Chair. “There are many arts and crafts fairs – we want the Candy Dance Arts and Crafts Fair to stand out from all the rest.”
Downtown Genoa is the location for the Candy Dance Arts and Crafts Fair. The fair will feature over 325 crafters and vendors, plus 4,000 pounds of Genoa’s homemade candy.
The hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is free; parking in designated lots is $5 per vehicle. The annual Candy Dance Dinner and Dance will be on Sept. 29, at the Orchard House in Genoa. The time and ticket information are to be announced.
The first Candy Dance was organized in 1919 by Genoa resident Lillian Virgin Finnegan to raise money to purchase street lights for Genoa. Finnegan and the women of Genoa made homemade candy to serve at the dance.
