Buffett tribute band kicks off GE Family Concert Series on Friday

The Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department GE Family Concert Series kicks off 6 p.m. today at Minden Park with Garratt Wilkin and the Parrotheads, co-sponsored by Arrowhead Dental.

Dedicated to celebrating Jimmy Buffett’s music, the band is based out of Placerville, Calif. The group has been billed as the number one Jimmy Buffett tribute band.

“Traveling with ‘The Parrotheads’ is a great way to meet Jimmy Buffett fans and to make new ‘Parrothead’ friends. We get such a kick out of performing for fans that become just as much a part of the show as we are,” Wilkin said on the band’s website, theparrotheads.com.

Spaces no larger than 10-feet square can be reserved starting at 7 a.m. the day of the concert; no blankets on the lawn until after 5 p.m. the day of the concert. If tape is used to reserve a section, it must be removed prior to the start of the concert.

Fifth Street will be closed during the event to allow space for motorhome parking and concessions. RV parking will be allowed in a designated area only starting at 9 a.m. the day of the concerts and an RV pass is required. Call the recreation department prior to the concerts to receive a pass at 782-5500 ext. 1.
