BLM Christmas tree permits available Nov. 14

The Bureau of Land Management Carson City District will begin offering Christmas tree cutting permits Nov. 14 for a non-refundable fee of $5 each. The permits allow cutting a pinon pine or juniper tree on designated BLM lands primarily in the Pinenut Mountains between Carson City and Yerington, the Clan Alpine & Desatoya Mountains east of Fallon, and the Excelsior Mountains southeast of Hawthorne. Maps and directions are available with permit purchase.

There is no limit to the number of permits that may be purchased; and organizations and individuals are allowed to harvest trees for resale.

BLM permits for Christmas trees will be sold at Carson City’s District Office, located at 5665 Morgan Mill Road. The office is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 26, Dec. 3 and 10.

The Carson City office accepts phone credit card orders, or check/credit card mail orders.
