Bently Enterprises is moving ahead with the construction of their craft distillery inside the old Minden Mill.

They will have to underground several utility lines in an eight-week project starting Jan. 12 and ending Feb. 22, assuming they hit no delays or roadblocks.

They will start with trenching across Esmeralda Avenue Jan. 12-18, closing Minden’s main street for one of those days.

They will also be replacing two light poles on Buckeye Road.

Minden seeking new town board member

The Minden Town Board will be looking for a new member since an opening became available at the first of the year.

Charles Condron left the board effective Dec. 31, 2015, and they need a replacement immediately.

The application for the position will go online and they will run it for three weeks, with one week needed in order to qualify applicants.

The Board will hold a special meeting in mid-February to interview applicants.

Condron’s term was not set to expire until 2018, so the applicant selected will only be serving out the rest of his term.

Right now the Board is operating at only four people, which could present a problem if they become deadlocked and can’t reach an agreement.

Qualified applicants must be Minden residents and registered to vote.
