After a stiff loss in the state semi-finals on Thursday night, a bus carrying members of the Douglas High School varsity boys basketball team and cheerleading squad was in a collision with another vehicle in Reno.

According to Douglas County School District Chief Financial Officer Holly Luna, no one was injured.

“It was between our bus and a passenger vehicle,” she said Friday. “At this point the Reno Police Department is handling the investigation. There were no injuries at the time, and all students and cheerleaders got home fine.”

According to KRNV News 4, the accident occurred at the corner of McCarran Blvd. and Evans St. around 7:30 p.m. The passenger vehicle was described as a white SUV, which reportedly had to be towed.

Luna said police officers released the bus for further travel at the scene of the accident.

“We’ll wait for the report to come back to get details,” she said. “Police indicated that basically there was some property damage and that insurance companies were contacted.”

Earlier Thursday night, the boys basketball team had suffered a 73-40 loss to Southern Nevada’s Bishop Gorman.
