Bail was set at $145,637 for a 21-year old Minden man who implicated an acquaintance in the possession of 13 pounds of marijuana and was apprehended by deputies as he crawled into a bathroom window at a motel.

Allen Elseth is to appear Wednesday in East Fork Justice Court in connection with numerous charges including trafficking, possession, and conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.

He was arrested Dec. 29 at the Village Motel on an outstanding parole violation warrant. Deputies reportedly found cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy and drug paraphernalia in his room.

Law enforcement officers were contacted that afternoon when witnesses noticed numerous people in and out of a room rented to Elseth who reportedly left prior to deputies’ arrival.

A few hours later, deputies received a tip that Elseth had been at a movie theater with a large amount of drugs, but was now driving on Highway 88. The anonymous tipster wouldn’t leave a name, but called back to say Elseth was on County Road and was supposed to sell him a large amount of drugs and he wanted to get him in trouble.

Deputies believed the caller to be Elseth trying to get them away from the motel. Investigators left the motel, but set up surveillance. At 6 p.m., an investigator observed a subject matching Elseth’s description walk through a field behind the motel, hop the fence and walk up to the rear of his room. He was seen removing a screen and jumping in through the bathroom window.

Officers had a key to the room, but the deadbolt was locked, so they forced open the door.

As Elseth was taken into custody, he reportedly told officers he would give them 10,000 ecstasy pills if they would let him go.

Using K9 officer Mack, deputies found a backpack reportedly belonging to Elseth containing cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, a hash grinder and digital scale.

Elseth also was charged with possession of a controlled substance for sale and conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.

He is accused of leaving up to 13 pounds of marijuana with Kevin Mullen, 23, of Gardnerville for safekeeping. Mullen reportedly refused to give it back because he said Elseth was selling to children and had an underage girlfriend.

Elseth reportedly called deputies anonymously to snitch on Mullen who was charged with two felonies and is in Douglas County Jail, along with Elseth.

Both are due in East Fork Justice Court this week.
