Assembly to form committee on Brooks matter
Next week, Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick will seek the formation of a select committee of the Assembly to consider the matter of Assemblyman Steven Brooks.
The committee will be vested with investigative powers, including the discretion to appoint and refer the matter to a special independent counsel.
The committee will report and make recommendations to the full Assembly regarding what action by the full body, if any, is warranted in these circumstances.
Brooks was arrested on Jan. 19 on charges he threatened Kirkpatrick.
The Legislature convenes on Monday.
