Antique Chevrolet owners touring Sierra attractions
About three dozen antique Chevrolets have been touring the east slope of the Sierra this week.
This tour of the western U.S. was organized by members Tom Meleo and Jim Ferris.
Members of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America were in Genoa on Thursday morning preparing for a trip to Emerald Bay.
Member Dick Olson said the group went to Bodie and then to Virginia City.
“We took the steep route,” he said. “You needed to be in low gear to get up that hill.”
The 6-cylinder engine cars were built between 1929 and 1936 and have been restored to their original condition.
This tour of the Western U.S. was organized by members Tom Meleo and Jim Ferris.
The group is staying at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden.
“A lot of the owners of these motor cars have done a wonderful job of restoration,” said 25-year club member Jim Pappakostas.
Pappakostas said he has enjoyed his stay in the Carson Valley.
“The people at the Inn have been very gracious,” he said.
The organization was founded in 1961 and has 8,000 members worldwide.
