Active 20-30 club selling ducks for derby
The Sierra Nevada Active 20-30 Club No. 730 is sponsoring the second annual Carson Valley Duck Derby on June 9 at Lampe Park.
The race will be held during Carson Valley Days on Willow Creek with races at 1, 2, and 3 p.m.
“As a service club, we raise funds via a variety of events throughout the year and the Carson Valley Duck Derby is now our largest scale fundraiser,” organizers said in a press release. “Our organization gives back to our local community through a variety of other organizations and events including Backpack Buddies, The Carson Valley Community Food Closet, Kids & Horses and many more. The funds raised at the Carson Valley Duck Derby will go to our largest scale give back event, the Children’s Shopping Spree in August.”
The Children’s Shopping Spree allows the club to take under-privileged and special needs children from the community shopping for new school clothes. Each child is allotted $100, and assisted by an Active 20-30 member to select and purchase items for the upcoming school year.
“In these extreme economic times, the number of children needing assistance has increased,” organizers said. “We are continually in need of fundraising to support our many projects, which is why we are so excited about the Carson Valley Duck Derby.” Prizes include a 39-inch Vizio LED and full high definition flat screen television, one night stay for two at Sorenson’s Resort, four infield reserved tickets to the Reno Aces, two, $25 gift certificates to Adele’s, certificate for two on the MS Dixie for the Dinner Dance Cruise and many more. Need not be present to win.
Ducks cost $5 for one, $20 for five, or $50 for 13.
“We are very appreciative of your support and hope you can join us at Carson Valley Days at the starting line to watch your duck race,” organizers said.
