AARP to hear community ombudsman

The Carson Valley chapter of AARP #3683 will meet Thursday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville.

The guest speaker will be David Love, community ombudsman for the state of Nevada, Department of Human Resources Division for Aging Services.

The business session will begin with the nominating committee submitting a proposed list of officers and directors for consideration by the chapter members. Nominations will be accepted from the floor. All members are urged to attend to vote.

Installation of officers and directors will be at the December meeting.

Anyone interested in joining a group of dedicated people should attend this meeting.

AARP spokesperson Faye Pekar said, “The chapter provides information, services and activities to help enhance the quality of life for seniors. They act as an advocate for seniors; educate and inform them about legislation and advocacy, health care and wellness, economic security and life planning, consumer information and protection. The chapter provides service programs such as Tax Aide, 55 Alive, Connections for Independent Living and Widowed Person Service.”

Members of the National AARP and the public are invited to attend chapter meetings.
