33 file for elective office
The first five days of the 2000 candidate filing period in Douglas County brought more candidates for special districts than countywide seats.
Douglas County’s three incumbent commissioners are seeking re-election, and so are school board members David Brady, area 1, and George Echan, area 3. Randy Green and John Raker are seeking the area 4 school board seat and Jim Keegan of Gardnerville filed for the area 5 seat.
Charles Pullen of Gardnerville filed Friday for the Area 7 school board seat.
Tahoe Township Justice of the Peace hopeful Richard Glasson, an attorney, got some company when Ray Finnegan, the county’s juvenile detention center chief, filed for the job Wednesday.
The other 21 residents who have filed are seeking seats on special districts ranging from the East Fork Swimming Pool District to the Tahoe-Douglas Sewer District.
The filing period closes May 15. For a complete list of candidates, go to the Douglas County Clerk-Treasurer’s Web site at http://cltr.co.douglas.nv.us and click on the election icon.
