3 people killed in collision on U.S. Highway 50 near Dayton
The identities of three people killed in an accident on Highway 50 about five miles east of Dayton on Wednesday have been released by the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Ellis Lee and Louise Erwin were eastbound on Highway 50 when Ellis, 73, allowed his Ford F-150 to drift into the westbound lanes and into the path of a white Toyota driven by Michelle Marie Stratton, 43, at about 3:31 p.m. Wednesday, according to the NHP’s preliminary investigation.
All three were reported dead at the scene.
The westbound lanes of the road were closed until about 9 p.m. as an investigation continued, and one eastbound lane was open. Westbound drivers were directed to drive on the dirt shoulder of the road.
It’s unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
