Library program kicks off with magic

Staff reports

Caddwynn, the Magician will perform at the Douglas County Public Library on Wednesday, June 17, at 4 p.m. She will kick off the summer reading program, “Reading is Out of This World,” with magic and juggling. The performance is for children of all ages. This special event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Caddwynn (a.k.a. Mary Mowder) has been a professional magician in the Greater Sacramento area for more than 12 years.

After several years of apprenticeship with Myrrdin, the Wizard, performing as Caddwynn (a nickname since childhood), she soon became an accomplished magician in her own right.

She has received awards from her fellow magicians for both her close-up and stand-up magic and has served two consecutive terms as president of the Sacramento chapter of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.

For more information about the summer reading program, contact Carol Slavik, children’s librarian, at the Douglas County Public Library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden, 89423; 782-9841.
