Law and Order Night honors law enforcement officers

The Elks Lodge #2670 recently hosted the annual Law and Order Night to honor law enforcement personnel in Douglas County.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy Greg Shields was honored as the county’s officer of the year; Tom Corliss was reserve officer of the year; Kim Smith was named Explorer of the year and Georgia McArdle was named DCSO volunteer of the year.

The honorees were presented their awards by Sheriff Ron Pierini.

Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Jim Warne presented the trooper of the year award to Brad Smith.

Brian Harker was named Department of Patrol and Probation officer of the year. He received his award from Mike Ebright of the Department of Parole and Probation.

Lt. Mike Budge presented the Department of Prisons officer of the year award to Sgt. Luis Ramirez.

Nearly 200 people attended the event May 21 at the CVIC Hall in Minden.
