Kiwanis gives support to 4-H
On Dec. 11, 1997, the Gardnerville Kiwanis held the weekly Thursday meeting breakfast at Sharkey’s. The Douglas County 4-H portfolio winners and their parents were invited.
The Kiwanis helped judge the Douglas County 4-H portfolios again this year. Cloverbud (age 8 and under), Junior (age 9 and 10), Intermediate (age 11-13) and Senior (age 14-19) members submitted a portfolio depicting their 4-H year. The Kiwanis gave first through fifth place money awards in each group except Cloverbud. Fifth place received $25; fourth place, $35; third place, $50; second place, $60; and first place, $75. Each of the two Cloverbud members received $25.
The 4-H members in attendance were Nichole Allsip, Charlie Pedrett, Shelly Hulsey, Nikki Clark, Crystal Hellwinkel, James Foster, Michelle Enyeart, Brooke Muriset, Ben Wood and Tyrel Dressler. The parents in attendance were Sherry Allsip, Robbin Pedrett, Bobbie Jo Clark, Carolyn Foster, Patty Enyeart, Richard Muriset, Mary Wood and Tonja Dressler. Bob Koreski, Douglas County Cooperative Extension 4-H Coordinator, also attended.
On behalf of all the Douglas County 4-H members and parents who attended, I would like to thank the Kiwanis club for all their help with and continuing support of the Douglas County 4-H program. They took the time to help judge our portfolios and awarded $735.
