Kiwanis Bingo set for CVIC Hall in Minden
It’s turkey time again and the Gardnerville/Carson Valley Kiwanis Club will present its annual Turkey Bingo Night at the CVIC Hall this Saturday, Nov. 21.
Club members will start calling numbers and letters at 7 p.m. and play will continue until all the turkeys and other prizes have been awarded.
Byron Waite, chairman of the event, says 60 turkeys, as well as a number of stuffed animals, will go home with participants. The turkeys were donated by Valley businesses and individual club members. Most of the 83 members of the club will pitch in to prepare and serve complimentary snacks and do the usual setup and cleanup chores, Waite said.
Proceeds from the event will go toward support for Douglas County youth activities. The club regularly gives assistance to 4-H, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Future Farmers of America, Future Business Leaders of America, as well as China Spring Youth Camp, to name a few.
The scholarship committee, headed by Ann Delahay, presents yearly scholarships to young people planning to attend college or vocational training facilities. Proceeds from Saturday’s event will help this program as well.
Waite, hoping this year’s event will be as successful as those in past years, suggests, “Don’t be a turkey, come win a turkey.”
