Kindergarten registation, shot clinics offered
Kindergarten pre-registration for the 1997-98 school year will be held on the following dates at the following Douglas County elementary schools:
n March 17-28, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Meneley Elementary, 1446 Muir Drive, Gardnerville; Gardnerville Elementary, 111 Toler, Gardnerville; and Gene L. Scarselli Elementary, 699 Long Valley Road, Gardnerville.
n April 1-11, Jack’s Valley Elementary, 701 Jack’s Valley Road, Douglas County; Minden Elementary School, Minden; and Pinon Elementary School, Gardnerville (Johnson Lane area).
n April 14-25, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Zephyr Cove Elementary, Warrior Way, Zephyr Cove.
Parents may complete registration materials at their neighborhood school.
At the time of registration, a time will be reserved for children’s language development screening.
Nevada School Law states that a child must be 5 years old by Sept. 30 to attend kindergarten during the 1997-98 school year.
Parents must bring the following in order to register their child: birth certificate, and complete and up to date immunization records signed by a doctor or nurse as required by Nevada Law.
n Kindergarten shot clinic. The Douglas County Public Health Nurse will have a special kindergarten shot clinic for preregistration on the following Mondays: March 3, 4:30-7:30 p.m.; March 10, 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.; March 17, 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.; March 31, 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.; and April 7, 4:30-7 p.m.
Every Thursday there is a clinic at 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.
The clinics will be held at the Douglas County Community Health Department, 1685 Highway 395, Minden (782-9038). There will be an $8 fee for this service. If it is not affordable, the fee will be based on a sliding scale.
