Kindergarten pre-registration coming up
Kindergarten pre-registration for the 1999-2000 school year will be held in March and April at the following Douglas County elementary schools:
n March 22-April 2. Meneley Elementary, 1446 Muir Drive, Gardnerville; Gardnerville Elementary, 111 Toler, Gardnerville; Gene L. Scarselli Elementary, 699 Long Valley Road, Gardnerville; Zephyr Cove Elementary, Warrior Way, Zephyr Cove.
n April 6-16. Jacks Valley Elementary, 701 Jacks Valley Road, North Douglas County; Minden Elementary, Minden; Pinon Hills Elementary, Johnson Lane area.
Parents may complete registration materials at their neighborhood school.
At the time of registration, a time will be reserved for children’s language development screening.
Nevada School law states that a child must be 5 years old by September 30 to attend kindergarten during the 1999-2000 school year.
Parents must provide the following in order to register their child: birth certificate and complete and up-to-date immunization records signed by a doctor or nurse as required by Nevada law.
n Kindergarten shot clinic. The Douglas County Public Health Nurse will hold a special kindergarten shot clinic for pre-registration on the following dates: Monday, March 8, 22 and 29, 8:30-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. Call for an appointment. A walk-in clinic is held every Thursday, 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.
The clinics will be held at the Douglas County Community Health Department, 1685 Highway 395, Minden (782-9038). There will be an $8 fee for this service. If it is not affordable, the fee will be based on a sliding scale.
