Kat Simmons to perform in Carson at Tax Comedy Relief
Has the tax season got you down? If so, don’t worry. The Soroptimist International of Carson City is providing relief. “After Tax Comedy Relief” featuring Leslie Norris and Kat Simmons is coming to the Carson City Community Center on April 15.
Norris, a former beauty pageant queen, has appeared with Dwight Yoakam, Neal McCoy, Mark Chestnut and Tracy Byrd. Her television credits include HBO, A&E, Lifetime, Fox and Showtime. She was also a grand finalist on Star Search.
Norris combines acting, musical parodies, audience participation and singing in her performances.
Simmons is a Gardnerville resident who produces and emcees her own show at Carson Valley Inn, Comedy Night Live.
She has toured nationally and performed at Caesar’s, Catch a Rising Star, Harvey’s, the Improv, the Peppermill and Just For Laughs. Her TV credits include Comedy Nite, The Comedy Channel, and the Jenny Jones Show. She has opened for Tim Allen, Diane Ford, Paul Rodrigues and Kenny Rodgers.
In addition, Simmons conducts workshops for those wishing to pursue their own comedy dreams.
The evening starts with no host cocktails at 6:30 p.m. with the comedy performances beginning at 7:30.
The proceeds from the event will support the programs and community projects of Soroptimist International. These include the Bordewich-Bray Elementary School “Whole Child Program,” the Soroptimist Legal Fund and the Soroptimist Scholarship Fund.
Tickets are $15 each and are available in Carson City at Kennedy’s Books, Tropical Tan, The Hairline and Cee Cee’s Celebration Central. Tickets can also be attained by calling Jennifer Russell, 885-9000, ext. 1014.
