JVES food drive is held
The 15th annual Jacks Valley Elementary School food drive brought in 2,704 cans or packages of preserved food for the Carson Valley Food Closet.
The project was coordinated by Mark Paloolian’s 4th grade class, whose members counted the items at the end of the drive.
Bruce Porter’s class gathered the most food items by a lot – a total of 648. Vicky Templeton’s class gathered 386 items; Cathy Cattanach, 276; Eric Egan, 261; and Sue Kendrick and Jenny Pendleton’s class, 177.
Top grade was the 5th, with 748 total; 3rd grade, 562; 6th grade, 400; kindergarten, first, 370; and 2nd, 322.
The drive was held between Jan. 15 and 22.
