Staff reports

The 1999 Junior Rodeo, held last weekend at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, drew 162 entries and lots of people to watch, said Karen Trute, organizer.

“There were a lot of people,” Trute said. “It was a really good turnout.”

Competitors came from the county and in other areas of Nevada and California.

On Friday night, three rodeo queens were selected. They were, junior queen, ages 6-9, Morgan Howard; intermediate, ages 10-13, Tamsen Douglas; and senior queen, ages 14-18, Jessica Helm.

All around results were released Monday. Senior boy winner was Tommy Lee and senior girl, Marla Gambuto. They won saddles.

Intermediate winners were Kyle Moore, boy, and Kassi Venturacci, girl. They also won saddles.

Junior and pee wee winners were given breast collars. Junior winners were Ethan Garcia, boy, and Heather Ryan, girl; and pee wee winners were Chase Wortman, boy, and Kennedy Howard, girl.
