June photo contest winners
A new TV screen that displays photographs was used at the Carson Valley Photo Club’s June meeting. The screen was the product of three years of effort by club president Steven Davis and member Burton Diephuis.
During the meeting the club learned how to photograph waterfalls, the best settings for waterfall shots and two ways to capture running water. A slow shutter speed captures a silky water look and a fast shutter speed captures water in action. The presentation inspired the July photo contest theme of “waterfalls.”
The June photography contest was wildflowers. Carol Heinricy served as judge. First place was awarded to Tom Keller with his a photograph of a Sego Lily, entitled “Sego Lily”; second place went to Merry Muller with “Spring Rain,” a study of a Wild Iris; and third place was awarded to Robin Grueninger for her photograph of a wild rose and bee, which she calls “Wild Rose with Bee.” There were 26 entries in the competition.
The next meeting will be 6:30 p.m. July 11. Carson Valley Photo Club meets the second Tuesday of every month at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. The public is welcome.
