Jumping Rope for Heart has ’em jumping!
Students with plenty of heart jumped rope with enthusiasm at last Friday’s Jump Rope for Heart at C.C. Meneley Elementary School.
Kids in the demonstration team and the exhibition team have been [practicing at recess for the past two months in preparation for the event, said physical education teacher Ellen Lucas.
“The students enjoy learning individual, partner and group jump rope tricks and routines in this school-wide activity,” Lucas said. “Many older students team up with younger students to assist them and to have fun working together.”
The demonstration team is made up of any student who wants to participate. The exhibition team is made up of about 12 students who are able to do advanced tricks and routines.
All students in the school participated in a school-wide jump after the assembly, and students earned prizes for donations they obtained for the American Heart Association.
The Jump Rope for Heart is designed to promote heart health as well as raise funds for research.
