Hospice events are held to raise awareness

Staff reports

November is National Hospice Month, and two area hospice groups are offering seasonal activities.

The Hospice of Sierra Sage is honoring its volunteers this month and is now sponsoring the annual memorial Christmas tree dedicated to the memory of a deceased loved one at the Carson City mall.

Ornaments may be hung on the tree in memory of a loved one for a donation. Proceeds will go to help Hospice of the Sierra Sage patients.

Volunteers at the tree will also be available to answer questions about the services the hospice group provides. For more information, call 885-4179.

Residents are invited to learn more about Barton Memorial’s Home Health and Hospice of the Valley programs at an open house Dec. 2, 8 a.m. to noon at the Carson Valley Medical Center’s upstairs conference room, 1107 Highway 305, Gardnerville. Refreshments will be served and visitors may meet staff members.

For more information, call 782-1510.
