Hope Valley concert planned

Staff reports

Alisa Fineman and Kimball Hurd, a folk duet from the Monterey Bay area in California, will play an afternoon house concert on Sunday, Aug. 23, at the Mountain and the Garden Bed and Breakfast Inn at 250 Old Pony Express Road in Woodfords, Calif.

Starting at 4 p.m. and going until 7, the concert features inspiring folk music. Fineman, who has won many awards at folk music festivals, has also produced a highly acclaimed CD, “Better with Time.” Hurd, her partner, plays throughout the United States, and especially likes to play with her.

Desserts, hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be offered, along with the music, in the outdoor gardens. Guests can sip wine coolers or cappucinos amidst fragrant flowers, flowing mountain rivulets and peaceful koi ponds.

Cost is $5. All proceeds go to benefit the Friends of Hope Valley, an environmental group that has succeeded in setting aside over 25,000 acres of pristine Sierra land for permanent protection, said a group spokesperson.

For more information, call Sherry Conable, (530) 694-2575, or Patty Brissenden, (800) 423-9949.
