Honor band, choir concert is next week
It’s music, music, music for students and the community in the next couple of weeks.
Jim Burnett, band director for Carson Valley Middle School, announced that the Northern Zone Nevada Music Educators Association honor band and honor choir concert by junior high school students will be held at the Carson Valley Middle School multipurpose room March 14 at 7 p.m.
Students from various junior high and middle schools in the northern Nevada area will take part in the concerts. Students must audition to take part in the program.
The public is welcome to the concert at a cost of $2 per person or $5 per family (to help defray expenses).
In April, Professor Irv Wagner, a virtuoso trombonist and professor of music at Oklahoma University, will perform in a concert at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School April 5, 7 p.m. Cost is $2 per person or $5 per family.
Bands from Douglas High School, CVMS and PWLMS will perform. Also on tap is a student brass ensemble.
On April 3 and 4, Wagner and the brass ensemble will tour Valley elementary schools, Burnett said, to promote interest among younger students in music programs.
