Home-buyer seminar offered free in Minden
A free seminar for first time home buyers and others contemplating purchasing a home in the near future, will be hosted in Minden on Friday, March 19, by Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Northern Nevada, in partnership with Community Services Agency and USDA Rural Development.
The seminar will be at the Douglas County campus of Western Nevada Community College, 1680 Bently Parkway S., Minden, from 9 a.m to 4 p.m.
The purpose of the seminar is to help guide prospective home buyers through the often confusing process of qualifying for a loan, selecting a home, working with a lender, Realtor, title company and others, often at the same time. Those attending will receive a certificate of completion which, for some government and other loan programs, can be a requirement for loan approval. Some mortgage lenders reduce certain costs, or mortgage insurance premiums, when the buyers attend the course.
Representatives from the lending, real estate and title/escrow sectors will be guest speakers, along with USDA and CSA individuals presenting special loan and assistance programs.
“Our program has been well attended in Reno and Fallon, and people appreciate the opportunity to ask questions in an informal, relaxed atmosphere,” said Robert Hood, education coordinator for CCCS.
Those wishing to attend the seminar must register by calling CCCS at 322-6557, as seating is limited.
