Historical society sets annual Cemetery Tour
The Carson Valley Historical Society will offer its annual Cemetery Tour, a fun Halloween event that brings history to life.
Among the late residents of Carson Valley to be portrayed at the Garden Cemetery in Gardnerville include Judge Hickey, Josephine Hellwinkel and Augusta Hellwinkel, plus a widow in weeds and a mystery ghost.
Guests will hear “living histories” of members of these pioneer families and others in the cemetery Oct. 24, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cemetery is located at Cemetery Road and Douglas Avenue off Highway 395.
The tour and refreshments afterward are free to the public, according to Liz Paul, spokesperson for the Carson Valley Historical Society.
Guests are asked to provide their own flashlights, as there is no nightlighting in the cemetery, Paul said.
Cookies and refreshments will be served at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville.
