Health Fair needs booth renters

Staff reports

The Soroptimist International of Carson Valley will host a health fair in March, and health care professionals and non-profit groups which offer programs to the public are welcome to take part.

Booths are $25 each for professionals and free to non-profit groups. Booths will offer such services as free immunizations, blood pressure checks and other screenings.

Some screenings may cost a nominal fee, said Wendy Erven-Smalley, who is on the health committee for the Carson Valley Soroptimists. Many booths are signed up already.

This is a new project for the group, she added.

“In the past, we’ve done blood drives and we were talking about another blood drive and trying to do an immunization clinic, and we said, ‘Boy, if we put that together at the same time, it would have a big impact on people,'” she said.

“Hopefully, this will help people focus on their health.”

Pharmacists, doctors’ groups, dentists, optometrists and non-profit organizations that focus on seniors, families and children – all are welcome.

The fair will be held at the Douglas High School gym March 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We’ve had a good response so far,” Erven-Smalley said.
