Health Fair coming Saturday
A number of health screenings for free or at nominal cost make up this Saturday’s second annual Soroptimist International of Carson Valley Health, Fitness and Beauty Fair.
The March 13 event will be held in the Douglas High gymnasium from 8 a.m. to noon.
Around 35 booths are expected to be on tap. Demonstrations will be everything from Tai Chi, permanent makeup and breast cancer to fitness programs and martial arts.
Body fat testing will again be offered, and participants should fast for eight hours, not exercise for eight hours and not drink alcohol for 48 hours to ensure an accurate reading.
Allergy testing will be available this year, although there will be no blood panels offered.

The Edible Earth will provide food in the dining commons. The breakfast foods last year were such popular items that the restaurant was asked back again this year, said Wendy Erven-Smalley.
Demonstrations will begin every 15 minutes.
Visitors may obtain information or direct service while at the fair on weight loss, skin care, support groups, body fat testing, massage, ambulance tours, allergy testing, vitamins, fitness analysis, dentistry, hearing tests, fitness analysis, permanent makeup and insurance programs.
