GVFD will serve green pancakes March 17
The Gardnerville Volunteer Fire Department will hold its second annual all you can eat pancake breakfast March 17, 7-11 a.m., featuring green pancakes for St. Patrick’s Day.
The fire department is located at the corner of Highway 395 and Douglas Avenue in Gardnerville on the “S” curve.
Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. Door prizes will be given away to every 25th person to enter, and hourly raffles will be held for donated prizes.
Funds raised will be used for station improvements, uniforms and the general fund.
At the pancake breakfast, GVFD will begin its recruitment drive.
Mottos for the drive are “The Ultimate Human Sacrifice, Helping Out Someone Else,” and “All We Need From You is the Desire, We’ll Provide the Rest.”
According to GVFD spokesperson Shannon Brecik, the department hopes to reach 40 members, up from the current 15. This way, she said, the chores will be spread among more people, resulting in less time for each person to spend on department business.
