Gun class to be held
The Douglas County Parks and Recreation Division is sponsoring a class for Personal Protection and Concealed Weapon Certification.
The class will be held Wednesday, Aug. 6, and Friday, Aug. 8, from 6-9 p.m at the recreation annex building by Lampe Park in Gardnerville, and Saturday, Aug. 9, from 8 a.m. to noon, also at the recreation annex building. The class ends at the Carson City range with a session from 1-5 p.m.
This class is offered to assist those interested in learning to handle and operate a handgun in a safe and responsible manner. The course will include training on gun parts and ammunition, safety, cleaning, storage, loading and unloading procedures and shooting fundamentals. Range shooting will conclude this course.
Students must take their unloaded gun (two-gun maximum per permit) to class, as well as at least 100 rounds of ammunition to fit the gun. This class will comply with the new Concealed Weapon Carry Permit Law of Nevada. Books and handouts are included in course fee.
The fee is $75 and pre-registration is required. A $10 insurance fee is payable to the instructor. Students should have hearing and eye protection, cleaning kit, appropriate clothing and something to eat and drink. The class is being taught by Wynn Simon, an NRA certified instructor.
