Guitar virtuoso will perform in Alpine
In his first appearance in the Lake Tahoe region, virtuoso guitarist Alex de Grassi brings his extraordinary talent to Alpine County on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m.
“Rated as one of the top 10 guitarists in his field, this is a rare and special opportunity,” said Friends of Hope Valley spokesperson Patty Brissenden.
One of the top recording artists for Windham Hill, de Grassi has produced eight highly successful albums. The Los Angeles Times calls him “an acoustic guitarist of virtuosic strength and ability.” Acoustic Guitar magazine names him “one of the greatest steel string guitar players/composers of the last decade.”
The evening at Turtle Rock Park in Markleeville, Calif., includes not only de Grassi’s full evening concert, but also a silent auction of artwork donated by photographers and painters, as well as other goods and services.
An opening ceremony by members of the Washoe Tribe will start the evening, and a full array of wonderful goodies and drinks will also be available, Brissenden said.
All proceeds from this event go to benefit the Friends of Hope Valley, an environmental group that has succeeded in preserving more than 25,000 acres of pristine Sierra land, most especially Hope Valley itself, she added.
Tickets are $15. This event is expected to sell out, so tickets should be reserved early. For more information, call Brissenden at (800) 423-9949 or Sherry Conable at (530) 694-2575.
Donations for the silent auction would be gratefully accepted.
