Outdoor volleyball is an entirely different animal, to be sure. Starting with a chilly and weather-threatening Sunday morning, the ninth annual Carson Valley Days Grass Volleyball Tournament got off to its worst weather day in history.

There was much complaining, gnashing of teeth, and rending of garments, but since nobody did anything about the weather, all played on. The temperature rose to tolerable levels, and even a few spritzes of rain did not deter our couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. Wind was a constant annoyance, causing normally sure-handed players to miss completely.

The final point was scored about 3:30 p.m., ending an epic, if eventful, day of fun and games.

In the end, the E-LEMON-ators stood as the women’s division champions, Stacked as the coed division champions and BBT as the youth division champions.
