GOP women present scholarships to Douglas High graduates

Douglas County Republican Women presented four Douglas High School seniors scholarships in the amount of $3,000.

Demi Bera, who will be majoring in psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno, said her goal is to go to medical school to become a psychiatrist after she earns her bachelor’s degree.

Brendyn Carpenter, will be attending Biola University majoring in biology, or psychology – he would like to eventually work with young adults who face challenges with bullying.

Zachary Kruse, will be attending University of Nevada, Reno, where he will major in environmental engineering. He said his goal is to work in water management.

Tabitha Keating, will be attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz., majoring in engineering. She said she is looking forward to new challenges as she begins her college years.

Each student was presented with a signed “Certificate of Recognition” from Gov. Brian Sandoval congratulating them on “outstanding achievement and continued success.”

Organizers offered their thanks to committee members Sherry Dilley, Linda Colavechio, Ellie Lindberg, Virginia Starrett, Lorrene Palmer, Maxine Robowicz and Brenda Robertson.
