Girl Scouts seek new members and adult volunteers

Staff reports

Carson Valley Girl Scouts are now recruiting new members for the 1997-98 year.

There has been an overwhelming response of girls interested in all levels of Girl Scouting, but this area is in dire need of adult volunteers.

According to Molly Jordan, Service Unit manager, there is no special requirement to be a Girl Scout volunteer; however, an application must be submitted to the Sierra Nevada Girl Scout Council.

“Adult volunteers can be anyone,” says Jordan. “You do not need to have children, you just need time and a genuine desire to work with girls. Grandparents or other interested people are welcome.”

Recruitments have been taking place for each elementary school this month. They will also be held at the third annual Fall Festival and Pumpkin Run at Lampe park on Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Girl Scout calendars for 1998 will be available for sale. Wall calendars are $2.50 and pocket calendars are $1.50 each.
