Genoa Sesquicentennial plates, mugs on sale
The Genoa Sesquicentennial Committee is selling commemorative plates in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the original Mormon Station in 1851.
The plate is 10 inches in diameter and features a gold design. A drawing of the Mormon Station replica now at the state park in Genoa is encircled with the words, “June 1851 Sesquicentennial – June 2001 Genoa Nevada, Nevada’s First Permanent Settlement, Mormon Station.”
On the back of the plate is a brief history of the origins of Genoa and of the park – known by Genoans as simply “the fort.”
Price of the plate is $45 now and after January 2001, $50. Mugs, with the same design as the front of the plate in blue on white, are $5.
Various celebratory events are being planned for this year and next by the committee. For information or to order plates and mugs, call 782-2486 or 782-2893.
