Genoa Museum opens for season
The Genoa Courthouse Museum reopened its doors on May 1. Volunteers and staff have been polishing and shining up all the exhibits, preparing for the season’s visitors.
On the main floor, the old classroom has a fresh look. Carson Valley Historical Society member Irene Marshall made new outfits for the schoolroom children mannequins.
“The old outfits were faded and very dusty and need to be replaced,” said society spokesperson Liz Paul.
Several major remodeling projects are expected to be completed this year, thanks to a major historic preservation grant. The grant will cover the costs for replacing all the windows with ultraviolet protected glass to better preserve all the artifacts from sun damage.

“The Carson Valley Historical Society greatly appreciates an anonymous donation to replace all the carpeting in the museum,” Paul said.
The Genoa Courthouse Museum will remain open until mid-October.
