Genoa holds annual Candy Dance
The 77th annual Candy Dance in Genoa is coming Sept. 27 and 28 with a free fair both days and dance and dinner Saturday night.
Over 300 booths are signed up to show and sell fine work. More than 700 artisans had made applications to the fair, and the jurying committee worked for five hours to select the finest of them.
The fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days throughout the town of Genoa and at both parks – Mormon Station State Park and the Genoa Town Park.
A food court is planned for the new Genoa Volunteer Fire Department fire station, next to the original Douglas County Courthouse, now a museum.
Activities for the two-day event include the traditional dance on Saturday night with the band Rush Hour. Added attractions are an antique show and sale at Antiques Plus and an outdoor barbecue with entertainment at Inn Cognito on Sunday.
The Brewery Arts Center will sponsor an old-fashioned melodrama at the old town hall.
Volunteers are always needed. Anyone who would like to help out at the annual Candy Dance Faire and related activities are welcome to call 782-8696.
