Genoa Courthouse Museum to open Saturday
The major renovations to the Genoa Courthouse Museum have been completed. New carpeting was installed throughout the building recently and the display cases and exhibits are just about ready for viewing by the public. The museum will re-open for the season today at 10 a.m.
The Carson Valley Historical Society has received a very generous donation by long-time residents Ron and Ann Funk of Genoa for the re-carpeting of the museum.
“These two simple words, ‘Thank you,’ seem so inadequate for the generous monetary donation the Carson Valley Historical Society received from Ron and Ann Funk for re-carpeting of the Genoa Courthouse Museum,” said historical society President Marlena Hellwinkel.
“Those two words also apply to the society trustees and volunteers who have been spending many hours the last few months at the museum working with electricians, window installers, painters and carpet layers and with the curatorial staff to clean and update the exhibits.
“The support shown by the Funks, in addition to the grants received from the State Historical Preservation Office for the museum, gives the society added encouragement to continue its efforts in preserving local history and making it accessible to our community and visitors. We’re mighty proud of the Genoa Courthouse Museum, and visitors can see that we are!”
