Gardnerville VFD plans open house and breakfast
The Gardnerville Volunteer Fire Department invites Carson valley families family Saturday, March 25, for the VFD’s first Pancake Breakfast and Open House.
The firehouse is located at 1255 Douglas Ave., two blocks south of Sharkey’s, next to the water company.
Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to noon and will include all you can eat pancakes, sausage and choice of coffee, milk or juice at a cost of $5 per person. There will be raffle prizes given away, plus door prizes to every 25th person who purchases a breakfast. Tickets for the raffle will be sold at the door for $1 each or $5 for six.
The money will go toward ongoing improvements of the station, equipment needed for fire and medical responses, the cost of classes and conferences and for the cost of incentives for members.
After breakfast, the GVFD will have its doors open for guests to explore one of the oldest working volunteer stations in the Carson Valley and learn how a volunteer department runs administratively and operationally.
They will be able to venture into the apparatus bay and see all of the equipment, tour a fire engine, brush rig and then set their eyes on an old Dodge and Seagraves engines. There will be members on hand to guide visitors and answer questions.
The East Fork smoke trailer will be on site and there will be free gifts for children.
Come on down Saturday, March 25, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Fill your stomach with all-you-can-eat breakfast, then tour our station. Make sure you have a camera handy to take a picture of the kids on an engine.
For more information, contact the GVFD at 782-2003 and leave a message and your call will be returned.
