Free kids’ concert on Friday at library

Staff reports

Bay area children’s singer and musician Nancy Raven will perform a free concert at the Douglas County Public Library on Friday, July 30, from 7-8 p.m.

Raven has been singing children’s folk music for over 30 years. She uses a wide variety of folk instruments, and with the children’s help, all the songs are participatory. She explains and demonstrates the instruments, which come from around the world. Raven shares her feeling that quality music of all folk traditions is a much-needed commodity in children’s lives. All ages are welcome.

Cassette tapes by Raven are available for check-out at the library.

This special performance is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

“Reading is a Fine Art” is the theme of the Douglas County Public Library summer reading program. There is still time to sign up and participate.

The Douglas County Public Library is located at 1625 Library Lane, Minden, 782-9841.
