Former Gardnerville resident Joe Valenzuela to speak of missionary work in India
Joe Valenzuela, a missionary to India, will speak at High Sierra Fellowship May 10 and 14, and his wife Kumari Valenzuela will speak at a ladies’ brunch May 20.
Valenzuela has been in India for six years, working with the group “Youth With a Mission.” He and his wife had worked in Calcutta with children in the slum areas as well as doing evangelistic outreaches to neighboring villages.
Valenzuela is now the director for the YWAM’s School of Biblical Studies in Bangalor, India, where he has been working as an instructor for the past year and a half.
Valenzuela is a graduate of Douglas High School and his wife is a native of India. They met while they were both working for YWAM.
Youth With a Mission is an interdenominational and international missionary group that trains young people for Christian service throughout the world. Valenzuela has been involved with YWAM for 10 years and his wife for about six years.
The community is invited to hear Valenzuela talk about how God took him from the small-town environment of Carson Valley to the cities of India. Service times are May 10, 7 p.m., and May 14, 9:30 a.m. The ladies’ brunch will be held at 10 a.m. May 20, and reservations are required. Call 782-7486 or 782-2185.
High Sierra Fellowship is located at 1516 Highway 395, Suite E, in the Haas Center.
