Footprinters give $1,000 to Douglas Search and Rescue
Douglas County Search and Rescue’s ongoing fund-raising effort was highlighted at the Thursday, Sept. 21, dinner meeting of the International Footprint Association, Carson Valley chapter #72. Search and Rescue President Lois Knudsen awarded a plaque to the Footprinters for their donation of a check for $1,000.
“Can we interest other local organizations in matching this donation?” Fred Hersey of the Footprint Association asked.
Keynote speaker of the meeting was Captain Ray Alcorn, USN Pilot, retired, who gave a spell-binding account of his seven years as a POW at the Hanoi Hilton and other North Vietnamese POW camps.
“Captain Alcorn received a standing ovation from the IFA, who thanked him for his service to our country. We are proud to know him,” Hersey said.
