Fly Casters to elect officers

by Rosemarie Middendorf

The High Sierra Fly Casters will hold its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.

It is important that all members attend this election of officers meeting.

Speaker Peter Jon Bauer of Angler’s Edge in Gardnerville will discuss the fishing opportunities in the area of the Virginia Lakes basin, as well as the back country in the northeast corner of Yosemite Park.

The presentation will cover those areas that are accessible on foot for day hikes, overnight trips on foot, as well as pack trips by horse.

There are numerous places for both the novice and experienced angler to explore, and many of these locations will be addressed during the course of the evening, Bauer said.

Recently, the High Sierra Fly Casters sponsored a planting of 3,000 brown trout eggs at broken dam on the Carson River, under the guidance of Pat Solberger of the Nevada Department of Wildlife, according to President Gene Young.
