Flood advisory issued for this week
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a flood advisory for rain and snowmelt for Douglas County from now until 10:45 a.m. Friday.
Emergency management has reported snowmelt causing minor flooding along with the west fork of the Carson River and high water on the East Fork of the Carson River.
Both forks are currently running near or beyond channel capacity.
Moderate to heavy rainfall could increase flows and worsen the flooding in the area.
Minor flooding is expected to last into June. No structures are currently threatened but Mottsville Lane and Centerville lane east of Highway 395 are impacted.
Road closures are possible. Caution is advised, especially while driving at night when the dangers of flooding are harder to recognize.
