Flood advisory in Douglas as heavy rain falls in Genoa
Rain fell at a rate of more than half an inch an hour on the west side of Carson Valley as the second atmospheric river of the season arrived on Saturday.
As of 9:15, 1.46 inches of rain had fallen along the Sierra foothills.
Heavy precipitation is expected to continue into this afternoon with the threat of flooding near small creeks and streams and near recently burned slopes.
The snow level is expected to remain at or near 8,000 feet.
Emergency personnel report that there is water on the roadway at Foothill and Clark Lane on the west side of the Valley.
East Valley and the Johnson Lane area so far remain clear of flooding.
A flood advisory is in effect for Douglas County through 12:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Heavy rain is expected to continue through 10 a.m.
